Midland Does It To Big Reds Again, 55-13

ONA - Cabell Midland did it to the Parkersburg Big Reds again as the Knights ran roughshod over the visitors by a 55-13 score for their eighth straight win against the team from Wood County.

Using a ground game that has become their trademark, the Knights of coach Luke Salmons rolled up 667 yards on the ground on 64 attempts while completing one of two passes for 34 yards. Midland scored seven times on the ground and added a 60 yard interception return to win their second blowout of the young season.

J.J. Roberts ran for four touchdowns and was one of three Midland backs to top the 100 yard mark rushing (and a fourth finished with 98 yards on the ground). Jakob Caudill gained 217 yards on 22 carries while Isaiah Vaughn picked up 146 on 12 tries and Roberts finished with 121 yards on 12 attempts. Jayden Johnson ran the ball just five times but gained 98 yards.

The Big Reds, who fell to 1-1 on the year going into next week's home game with Beckley Woodrow wilson, scored early to actually take the lead at 7-6 with tie the game with 4:51 left in the first quarter. Sophomore Bryson Singer found Sam Potts with a 43 yard pass and then Potts kicked the extra point.

PHS finished with 243 yards in total offense but 224 of that came through the air where the Big Reds suffered three interceptions (and also lost a fumble). Braeden Mason caught three passes for 119 yards including an acrobatic, diving reception. After the Big Red early score Midland reeled off four more touchdowns before the half to take a 34-7 lead.
